Mail User Agent (MUA) like Outlook Express, MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, Mozilla Thunderbird and many more allow to compose, read and send email files. Both Lotus Notes and Outlook are desktop-based app that widely used in organization and non-organization level. The remarkable thing about IBM Notes is that it keeps NSFs on the client and NSFs on the server. But, except that, dealing with Lotus Notes app is very exhausting.
Lotus Notes contains encrypted ID files that include confidential information. These files saved with .id file extension. In the course of investigation process, extraction and decryption of artifacts from Lotus Notes ID files is a great challenge in front of investigators. The database of Lotus Notes i.e. emails, contacts, calendar and other items saved into NSF that stands for Notes Storage Format and it gets stored under location C:\lotus\notes\data.
